The character above is Hanako from Persona 4. She is a fat character inserted into the game who exists only as a joke. She’s not a social link and she’s not relevant the plot. The only reason she ever makes an appearance is for the audience to laugh at her and for the cast to be grossed out by her. She’s also depicted as a pretty crummy person, the game’s own way of acting as though she deserves the treatment she gets. When she competes in the game’s beauty pageant, she loses and is devastated by it, but it is still framed as both hilarious and deserved. This contributes to the fat shaming and fat hatred already present in our society.
EDIT: It’s been pointed out to me that the game implies she has an unrequited crush on the MC. In a game where you can romantically pursue almost every woman your character’s age, it’s clear the only reason she’s not a romance option is fat hatred on the part of the creators.
